Tribute to Tom Donnelly

Tribute to Tom Donnelly

Tom was buried on Tuesday the 8th May 2007. Tragically his son, also Tom, died at the family home, very unexpectedly, the next day, Wednesday.     Tom Jr. was 39 and known by many Olympians. The club extends its deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and friends.

Tom  and  Tom Jr. Happier times in their back garden 5 years ago.

Tom Donnelly was a true inspiration, it was 6 years ago that I first meet
him and he told me of his wish to complete the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon.
Since then he encouraged me to join him in doing just that, to run
marathons and meet challenges that I never previously imagined possible.  I am
privileged to have counted him as a friend.   He will be sadly missed.
