Congratulations to everyone who took part in Irelands first Ironman event. There are days when you earn your stripes and Sunday 4th September was one of them. With very windy conditions the organisers were forced to shorten the swim and in the end most people were very happy they did so. The water was very choppy and with a strong wind coming in off the sea it made for a difficult start to the race. The wind helped competitors on the out-leg of the bike course to Maam Cross in Connemara. The return leg was a different story with strong winds and rain to contend with.

Carlingford – Double trouble
Well done to Paul Carroll who successfully defended his 2010 Carlingford Triathlon victory. Paul took the lead early in the bike leg and went on to win by nearly four minutes.
Jim Cooke won the Super Vets with another strong performance. Commenting afterwards on the race he said ‘I had another good bike!’

Casleward National Trust property - 4th December 2011
This is an off-road run/bike/run race. It is recommended that athletes use appropriate off-road bikes and not road bikes. The course is a mixture of path, road and forest trail with a bit of mud and dirt thrown in. The adult event will be raced over a 3km run / 13km bike / 3km run course. The trail was built by the world renowned bike course architect Dafydd Davis and this will be the first official event on the trail.
